This project was inspired by the City Repair initiative born in 1996 in Portland, Oregon. Sonja Mulabdic, a local artist and a passionate promoter of sustainable communities, initiated the project in partnership with Viva Vancouver.

The mural is located on Cardero Street, between Nelson and Comox, and was installed on September 23 with help from many wonderful volunteers. The entire process, from community engagement to the mural painting party, took several months to complete.

In late September, 2012, we had a community celebration and mural painting party where local residents got together to collectively beautify the West End neighbourhood. Many people joined their forces to help create the mural, and most of them filled our comment book with wonderful words of support.

Thank you all who participated!
